Chat rooms
Access
Each profile has a private room for its key holders. After a key purchase confirms, the room appears in Chat. You do not need an invitation.
Rooms use XMTP for encrypted messaging. Sync World checks key ownership to keep membership aligned with the active contract.
Room states
- Joining room. XMTP is preparing access for the current device. This can take a few seconds.
- Ready. You can send text, replies, photos, and reactions.
- Syncing. Recent messages are being restored for a new browser or device.
History and recovery
XMTP is the primary message source. When you use another browser or device, the app restores the room and merges available history without duplicating messages.
A newly restored room may briefly prevent sending while XMTP finishes adding the device. The composer becomes available when the room is ready.
Membership
Room membership follows current key ownership. A buyer is added after a confirmed purchase. A wallet that sells its last key is removed during reconciliation.
Messages already received by a member may remain on that member's device after access is removed. Do not treat a room as a place for secrets that must disappear later.
Conduct
Everyone in a room can read what you send. Keep messages relevant, avoid spam, and do not share sensitive credentials or private keys.
